Thimble SizingWe recognize that knowing what size thimble to buy over the internet is likely to be tricky. Following are some suggestions and photos to help you determine the size thimble that may work best for you. All thimbles measure 5/8 inch tall, regardless of size; and they taper in a bit at the top. Since most thumbs are not round, you can squeeze your thimble a bit to make it slightly oval, rather than being perfectly round, for a better fit. Once you have squeezed it, you may not return it. Here is what the thimbles measure at the base, their widest point:
The picture to the right shows how a thimble should fit. It provides full coverage from the end of my thumb and over the entire pad. The picture below shows a thimble that is a bit too large. This one provides plenty of protection to the pad of my thumb, but
I tend to push the needle from high on my thumb and this size would not provide
me the right protection. But if this looks like a better fit for you,
order the next size larger than your measurement.
Exchanges: If, once you have tried the thimble, you determine a different size would be better. Return the thimble you purchased in the original thimble packaging, inside a postage-paid padded envelope, and tell us what size you would like to exchange it for. The first exchange will be free. If this is your second or third try, include $2.00 for postage and handling. All exchanges must be handled within 45 days of the original order. No thimble that has been altered can be returned. E-mail us if you have questions.
