Peggy Sperry designed this delightful quilted wall hanging
in Nancy's Hawaiian Design class. |

"A crib quilt which ties together the two WONDERFUL classes I have taken
from you: your
Celtic knot
class, and your Hawaiian quilting class. Learning your needleturn technique as
well as the more specific techniques involved in those two traditions has
opened up new worlds for me, and I am grateful! The baby for whom
I made the quilt has the Celtic heritage from her father, and the
Hawaiian/Chinese heritage from her mother. Since I'm a Northwesterner
now, the subject of the design is one of my favorite indigenous plants--the
trillium. I quilted it by machine, (hoping to finish it in the baby's
lifetime)." 40"x 50" --Original design by Alison Vogel. |

Midwest Harvest by Joanne Talbott. Joanne designed this 40"
square quilt in Nancy's QuiltUniversity.com class (Make Your Own Hawaiian
Quilt) using cornstalks and pumpkins. How clever! |
In the August/September 2003 issue
(#108) of Threads magazine Janice had an article showing how to design in the Hawaiian-style using non-tropical design
themes. Check your local library for a copy. |

Celtic Knot work. Sarah Smith's little red on white Celtic knot
