High quality 100% cotton fabrics which are wonderful for needleturn appliqué.
Each photo shows approximately a 20 inch square of the fabric.
Remember that computer screens vary and the colors you are viewing may not be
exactly accurate.
Note 1: "Kona Bay" is the name of a company headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii. Don't confuse these fabrics with a particular cotton produced by Robert Kaufman called Kona Cotton. These are NOT the same fabrics.
Note 2: Kona
Bay has used the word "batik" in the name of its fabric line Batik
Garden , but this is NOT batik fabric. Batik
fabrics have a resist applied to the fabric as part of the dyeing process.
This resist is commonly a wax, or wax-like product. This wax can be difficult
to remove and leaves the fabrics somewhat stiff and difficult to needle.
Hand appliquérs and quilters find this particularly problematic. BUT the
Kona Bay fabrics we carry are NOT batiks. They are a very soft, supple
fabric that needles very well for hand appliqué and quilting. We always
recommend that you pre-wash your fabrics to assure color-fastness.
