pattern. |
Flowers That Never Fade with Dragonflies, by Karen Esterholdt.
Karen chose the torch ginger and anthurium flowers to place in her vases. The dragonflies and pretty double binding create additional interest.
|
Flowers That Never Fade, by Jeanne Plude.
"Just wanted to send you this photo of my first wall hanging. It took me almost a year of off and on quilting.
I have made other pillow size quilts. I love your patterns". Jeanne says it has been 12 years since she moved away from Hawaii,
and the Hawaiian quilts help her keep a part of Hawaii with her.

Lilies of the Valley with a custom designed border by Shirley Taylor. We are
so glad people don't stop with making just the pattern, but go on to expand the possibilities.

Turtle Bay by Bonnie Ouellette. She purchased the background fabric
with turtles swimming all over it on the Big Island of Hawaii, thus the
name. Bonnie reports that she loved doing the applique but hated the echo quilting. That hasn't stopped her though, she has
more Hawaiian quilts in the works! Woodland Lei
|
Woodland Lei Marie Blecha. reports it took her 'nearly a week' to
complete the applique and then she hand quilted this lovely quilt in 'only a few days'! (She certainly works faster than I!) She did not mark the
quilting lines, rather 'eyeballed' the distance between applique to achieve the effect she wanted.
|
"Woodland Lei was my first allover Hawaiian applique. I used
2 Hoffman hand paints, and I chose not to put on a border. I fell in love with the pattern when I saw it..."--by Carole Casadonte.

|
Silversword, by Bonnie Ouellette. "By the way, it was not until
I went to email you that I realized that I had not cut out the little scoops
on the silversword. I was sick because that would have made it even
prettier. I thought about trying to do it now, but think it would be
too scary." (We think Bonnie's quilt is stunning just as it is!)

Torch Ginger. Made by Mae Gilliland, one of Nancy's students. A traditional choice of navy blue on white makes a bold statement.
This is one of the Tropical II patterns.
|

Torch Ginger. Melinda Greene.'s first Hawaiian quilt. She turned the block pattern on-point then added a border of her own design.
A student of Nancy's, she says: "We were supposed to start small but, hey, WHY??? I made some mistakes but learned from them."
This is one of the Tropical II
patterns. |
Fruits & Nuts in Season, by Marie O'Kelley. 69" x 50", hand
appliqued and hand quilted. This quilt won 2nd place in the traditional applique category at
Marie's state fair. Congratulations! The border of this quilt makes the blocks just jump right off the quilt.
From our Tropical Fruit & Nut pattern.

Maile Lee Howarth added a wonderful touch with the rippled border on her small quilt.
This is one of the Tropical Floral patterns.
|
Poho poho in progress. Carolyn Fessler's work-in-progress.
Her border is only partially appliqued, but she couldn't wait to share her progress so far. Ulu, Angel's Trumpet and Orchid are Pacific Rim Quilt Co
patterns. The pattern in the upper right is Elizabeth Root's Woodrose Leaf pattern.

Plumeria by Colette Cook. "My first Hawaiian wall hanging. Not
only did I thoroughly enjoy your pattern but when I requested some technical
assistance via e-mail, I received a prompt, helpful, and informative
response which helped me on my way. I learned a lot from this project
and I can't wait to begin another larger project. I am obviously
hooked on the art of Hawaiian Quilting."
