About Us

is really just two people, Nancy Lee Chong and Janice Lee Baehr, sisters. Janice lives near Seattle, Washington and Nancy lives on the southwest Oregon coast (USA). Both Nancy and Janice have devoted themselves full-time to their quilting business. Nancy is a quiltmaker, teacher, lecturer, designer and author. Janice is a quiltmaker, designer, curator, business manager, author, photographer and web-designer. It was our love of quilting and particularly Hawaiian Quilts that led us to develop three pattern lines and the business you see here.

We began designing Hawaiian Quilts with the very first quilts we made. Nancy in 1978 and Janice in 1982. We have been designing ever since. We introduced our first patterns in the 1980's, and have watched the line and our business grow ever since.

Our line of "2 Fabric Appliqué Quilts" was introduced in 2004. With our roots firmly in Hawaiian Quilts, it was a natural for us to continue designing quilts with just two fabrics. The primary difference is that with Hawaiian Quilts the designs are symmetrical so they are cut out like a paper snowflake. But the "2 Fabric Appliqué Quilts", while still using just two fabrics, are not symmetrical; bringing a whole new bold look to appliqué.

In 2011, we introduced our third line of patterns, "Quilt Borders & Table Runners".  Long, skinny applique runners that can be used for more than just quilt borders and table runners.  The patterns include several options, making these very versatile patterns.

Just an odd note: Nancy and Janice use their maiden name, Lee, as their middle names in the quilting world. Originally we thought it would help people know us as sisters, but instead it just seems to confuse people. But we have been doing it for over 20 years, so it is too late to stop now. Nancy is "Nancy", not Nancy Lee. Janice is "Janice", not Janice Lee. The "Lee" is silent.
